2024 Kenworth T480 3000 gallon pumpable Tender

OFPD "pushed-in" Tender 211 for service on April 29, 2024.  It was a great afternoon for community, family, and friends of the OFPD Brotherhood to incept the new apparatus to service and check out all of it's modern and safety features.  Of course, what event at the fire department does not involve water?  This one sure did!  Following the push in the tank was filled at a nearby fire hydrant with Chief Fitzgerald and the firefighters demonstrating the apparatus' ability and capacity. They included local children by having them help with the hydrant and hose - it was a great joy to see these kids so excited about helping and learning!

 2023 5th Annual Olathe Fireman's Golf Tournament

A fun filled day on the green was had by all!  The weather was beautiful and the golf carts trekked their way throughout the course for 20 teams.  Play was rounded out with a delicious Taco Bar lunch served by the Rusty Putter Restaurant while many, many door prizes were handed out.  The silent auction items included charcuterie boards, custom garden benches, and a complete corn hole set. Thank you Kirby and Pam Cannell, Rich Rivera, and Dean McHenry for your beautiful hard work on these items!

Five Fire Dept.'s played in the tournament - Palisade Fire, Cedaredge Fire, Ridgway Fire, Olathe Fire, and Arrowhead Fire.  We are pleased that so many of us responders could break away from the emergency life for these hours and enjoy a day on the green!  Ridgway scored the best!  Sadly, we had so many door prizes to hand out that by the time we got to this prize, they had already left.  So, we owe them their prize :-)

Many, Many Thanks to all who supported us through this event!  We could not have done it without you!

We look forward to more events like this!

Thoughts from Chief Fitzgerald...

We would like to thank our community for their continued support. Watching this department grow from a volunteer department to a paid department has been amazing. I believe this vote proves the confidence our community holds for our abilities and services, and we will continue to build upon that. Our commitment to improved response times and certification levels of our employees will show our dedication to the community. We also would like to thank The Citizens4OlatheFire, their efforts to get the information out to the public and to assist in this vote was instrumental. Again, thank you! for your continued support of your local Fire District and the people that protect you every day in your time of need. We do not take this lightly; we take it with grace and humility.

Open House at Olathe Fire Station #1 - August 28, 2022

We opened the doors, pulled out the apparatus, set up a grill and provided hamburgers and hot dogs to guests that came for a tour of the station, listen to music, meet our responders, and learn more about our district and its needs.  It was a great day for all!  The weather was perfect and the water fight was a great grand finale to the days events!  Thank you Olathe!  We are happy to be here for you!

Olathe National Night Out

August 8, 2019

OFPD paired with the Town of Olathe to coordinate an Olathe National Night Out, a night for the community to meet and greet with  responders for the community. The Olathe PD, Montrose County Sheriff and K-9 Unit and SWAT all participated in the event located at the town park. Horton Street was closed for the ½ block west of the station so everyone could roam freely between the event and the fire station for our Open House. We fed over 200 people a hamburger/hot dog BBQ style dinner and there were games in the park, a DJ for music, K9 unit demonstrations and a spectacular water fight!  OPD and OFPD did a dance off – our own Lt. Hubert Kimberlin won! Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening for all!
